Facebook Video Views Hit 8 Billion Daily

What is this?

Facebook has now reached a new milestone. Daily video views on the social media site now averages 8 billion daily. That’s twice the number watched daily as of April of this year. This was announced by Facebook’s founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg during his company’s quarterly earning’s call with investors.

Facebook has 1.55 billion active monthly users counts 3 seconds as a video view as opposed to Youtube’s 30 seconds.

 

Why is this important?

This announcement can make Facebook a top competitor to Google’s Youtube when it comes to digital advertising. Video advertising generates more money for Internet giants compared to text or banner advertisements.

Activision Buys Candy Crush For $5.9 Billion

What is this?

Activision, the video game publisher known for its brainchild Call of Duty purchases Candy Crush developer King for $5.9 billion. The deal is reportedly all cash.

It still has to go through approval in Ireland, where King is based, but it is expected to be all sorted out by spring of 2016.

 

Why is this important?

Candy Crush is one of the most lucrative and successful games in the mobile industry earning some $1.33 billion in revenues in 2014 according to a King financial statement.

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick said,

The combined revenues and profits solidify our position as the largest, most profitable standalone company in interactive entertainment. With a combined global network of more than half a billion monthly active users, our potential to reach audiences around the world on the device of their choosing enables us to deliver great games to even bigger audiences than ever before.

What is this?

The App, Peeple stirred controversy a few months back and it now has met its match with The Know app.

The Know app lets users anonymously connect people to strangers who want to talk about a person they mutually know. It allows you to see who your romantic interest is seeing on the side.

To start, all you need to do is give some personal information about the person you want to talk about. This can be their name, age, address, height, hair color, ethnicity, and even a photo. But the photo is the only thing that will be private.

Once The Know has found you a match, you can see what they have written about their relationship with the person and strike up a conversation if you need to know more.

 

Why is this important?

Apps that let users remain anonymous have always been a melting pot for cyber bullying and mudslinging so this app has to prove itself that its different from others and is merely designed to somehow alleviate deceit and cheating.
