Google Improves Its Voice Recognition System

What is this?

Google has just added another feather to its cap by improving its speech recognition feature. The company’s speech technology has become more pronounced and accurate thanks to the power of artificial intelligence.

“Today, we’re happy to announce we built even better neural network acoustic models using Connectionist Temporal Classification (CTC) and sequence discriminative training techniques,” Google Speech Team members Haşim Sak, Andrew Senior, Kanishka Rao, Françoise Beaufays and Johan Schalkwyk wrote in a blog post today. “These models are a special extension of recurrent neural networks (RNNs) that are more accurate, especially in noisy environments, and they are blazingly fast!”

Why is this important?

This new improvement has made Google’s voice recognition thrive even in noisy environments. Microsoft and Apple have also been reported to be exerting more efforts to also improve its voice recognition so this can result and turn into a healthy competition. Let the best one win!
